Here are your Free Turntable Speed Disk and Cartridge Tracking Error Azimuth Gauge DownloadsUse the Stroboscope to quickly check to see if your turntable is running at the correct speed and use the Tracking error guage to make sure that your cartridge and needle are properly aligned. Simply click on the pictures below or their links and print them out on your printer. They are pdf files and require adobe reader (freeware at adobe.com) or another pdf reader. Both files will print out on standard 8.5"x 11" paper, cut them out and they are ready to use. Do not reduce the size of the image. It must be full size in order to be properly calibrated to speed. We recommend you experiment with regular paper first, which works fine, but you might want to try printing them on 80# - 100# card stock or as heavy of paper as your printer will handle. Also you should flip the stroboscope disk over and print the second disk on the opposite side. The center holes should line up. If not, flip the page upside down when you print the second side. Use a razor blade to carefully cut an X into the center hole. Place the Stroboscope disk on the Turntable platter. Cue the tone arm up so your needle will not touch the disk. Set the appropriate speed and turn on the turntable. View under fluorescent light. Note carefully which row of dots appears to be standing still. If speed is fast or slow, adjust so the large center row of dots, marked with the RPM designation, appear to be still. In addition, the outside strobe markings are set in gradients of +/- 2% and +/- 4% speed deviation. These can be helpful when checking tables with no speed adjustments.
Use the Tracking Error Cartridge Azimuth Gauge to make sure that your cartridge and needle are properly aligned this helps to reduce distortion.
